Lake Semerwater

Three testing routes designed as stand-alone races taking in some of the most breathtaking scenery that Yorkshire has to offer, the Dales Trail Series is designed to help build skills and fitness over the season as distances increase and route-marking decreases. There’s enough time between races to recover and prepare for the next, longer, harder race!

1st April 2017– Starts and finishes at Reeth Swaledale

The DT20 is an exciting introduction to the Dales Trail Series with testing ascents, spectacular ridge-running and fast technical descents. This is a fully marked route with rarely visited twists and magnificent views of the northern Dales – a favourite with local runners. This isn't your average trail race and it shouldn't be underestimated just because of the modest distance!

15th July 2017– Starts and finishes at Muker, Upper Swaledale

The DT30 is a future classic. Ascending almost 3,000ft from Swaledale up to the Tan Hill Inn (Great Britain’s highest pub), it’s never going to be easy. This race route (reversed since 2015) takes you on the C2C to the tiny hamlet of Ravenseat before heading up and across some of the country’s most remote expanses of moorland to reach the Tan Hill Inn. A section of the Pennine Way takes you back down to Swaledale but don’t get complacent; a stiff ascent of the spectacular Swinner Gill follows. Its then a fast flying descent on moorland tracks to finish through the iconic Swaledale flower meadows at Muker, making this a race not to be missed.

Marked route but basic navigation skills an advantage.

Camping available. Stay over in beautiful Swaledale and enjoy midsummer, post-race refreshments and a bit of socialising!

23th September 2017– Starts and finishes at here at Lake Semerwater Wensleydale

The DT40 is the final and longest race of the series, We listened to feedback after the race in 2015 and are happy to be able to confirm that in 2016 we have extended the course to 42.195km, making it full MARATHON distance.

Run over less technical terrain than the first two races, but with over 3,000ft of ascent, this is still a challenging event. Covering a markedly longer distance – requiring strategy, consistency and stamina – the course features good hard-packed trail (Roman Road) and less technical descending, but one steady climb runs to almost 12km!

Starting and finishing at Semerwater, Wensleydale, this race is marshalled, but basic navigation on trails is required.

Camping available.  Please contact us for details.
